Hi, I am Maik Thalmann and I am an experimental semanticist. While my past research also included some language acquisition work, I now mostly focus on adult native speakers to put to the test theoretical approaches to natural language semantics phenomena. Two topics that I have studied quite a bit are scalar implicatures and presuppositions, though with a much heavier emphasis on various topics in presupposition research, including projection and definiteness.
My reasons for using experimental methods rather than introspective ones are probably best explained by having a look at my blog posts, which will likely all touch on matters that I care deeply about in terms of data analysis, among them estimating uncertainty and inference reliability in the face of particular design decisions.
